Jiading scenes worthy works of art
Retired journalist Zhang Anpu was born in Jiading in 1947. Zhang has designed a number of stamp sets and examples of his work have won first prizes at the 1983 and 1991 national poster exhibitions. But his most impressive works are paintings of his hometown.

This sketch of the entrance to the Confucius Temple was drawn in 2009. It says “Xing Xian” on the gate, which means the country should use talented people. The Confucius Temple in Jiading was built in 1219. Zhang worked in the temple in 1970s and it was the venue for his marriage.
The corner of Yin’s house in Loutang Town, where Zhang lived for a week in the 1970s. The house is now on a cultural relic protection list. Zhang painted the house when he returned for a visit in 2006.
Zhouqiao Old Street in Jiading Town
This sketch is in two parts. The picture is an evening scene in Anting Old Street with several residents washing their sheets. On the left is writing about Zhang attending the Classic Literature Commission in Anting Town, discussing the works of Gui Youguang, a Jiading resident.
