Bamboo Carving
More than 120 pieces of bamboo-carving artworks created in the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties will go on display in Jiading Museum for a month, offering an art feast for residents during the eight-day National Day holiday. Cultivated by a developed economy and profound culture, Jiading bamboo-carving sprung up in the mid and late Ming Dynasty and was listed as the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage in 2006. Showcased are brush containers, figurines and decorative ornaments in different shapes with different making skills including hollow engraving, circular engravure, relief sculpture and light engraving.

‘Travel Far, Aim High’
Shanghai Auto Museum has launched its “Travel Far, Aim High” exhibition with hundreds of exhibits representing the revolution in water and land transport and ongoing efforts to allow people to travel more freely. A delicate daluche (大辂车), which was especially for emperors in ancient China, is on display, proving that the concept of luxury has been popular in China for a long time. Rickshaws, which were everywhere on the streets at the beginning of the 20th century, and cars such as a Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost made in 1921 are also on display. Visitors are required to make an appointment via the museum’s official WeChat account before purchasing tickets.
